The hard part
Broker statements do not agree with each other, and none of them agree with the tax form. Reconciling them into a defensible gains position — and carrying prior-year losses forward correctly — is the entire product.
What it costs to be wrong
A return filed on a wrong gain figure is the taxpayer’s liability, not the software’s, and it surfaces at assessment when the deadline has long passed.
